Doyleb: Are you married yet??

I just read your post on Sandals Antigua and was curious if you had taken your trip yet. I was married at Sandals Antigua in October 2002. I thought I would give you my opinion if you have not gone yet.

beachlover99 - we leave this coming Wednesday for a few days visiting family in New York. From there we fly to Antigua on teh 21st and are scheduled to be married on the 23rd at Sandals. Any information and suggestions are most welcome - thanks in advance!

We had a wonderful wedding/honeymoon. The resort did a great job with the ceremony. You will meet with the wedding coordinator to pick out flowers, cake, music, and your menu for candlelight dinner and breakfast in bed. Basically, they take care of everything from there. We had a blast during the entire ceremony and could not quit grinning because it was so relaxing and carefree, but beautiful at the same time.

We bought the smallest picture package and we were glad that we did. They won't tell you this but during the ceremony the photogapher will take a lot of digital pictures. They will give you the option of buying a CD of all the digital pictures they take. Our digital pictures turned out much better than the others. One piece of paper in our room gave us a price of $75 for the CD and they tried to sell it to us for $150, stating that the prices had changed. They gave it to us for $75 so you may watch out for this.

We loved the resort. We found to have a real laid back/romatic feel to it. It's not spectacular, but it was nice. Our room was kept very clean and it was comfortable. It was not big, but not too small...but who spends time there anyways except to change and sleep? The food was good, but again, not spectacular. Drinks were plentiful and good. You must try a dirty banana!

We enjoyed having access to all of the watersports equipment at any time. We also enjoyed having nightly entertainment provided. We are big beach bums and we didn't want to move too much so it made for the perfect vacation for us by having everything at our fingertips.

About the debate on Sandals, I think it is mainly the price. We received the 35% off, so I found the price to be reasonable. I have always said I will not pay full price. One good thing about a return visit is that we were given a certificate for one free night for being married at the resort. We also received signet points by joining the "Sandals Club" which will also save us $500.

The resort is nice with lush/tropical gardens and a beautiful beach. It will all be what you make of it. Congrats and enjoy!

beachlover99 - thank you for the information and best wishes. We leave tomorrow for 3 days in NYC before heading down to the island and it's all we can do not to burst at this point - it's hard to believe this day is actually here. I think Donna's been packed for 3 days now although the wedding dress will go in the garment bag right before we get on the plane I think...

I had heard about the photographers. We ordered a video of the wedding through Sandals but told them we'd think about the photos. I had read on another message board that if you bought the photo's on site it would cost you half, so we'll try that route.

We're so looking forward to the trip, to the wedding and of course the honeymoon and we both know it will be an amazing trip and a wonderful time. Thank you and we'll post a trip report when we get back. Cheers! BD

Well - we're back and unfortunately we've recovered from the trip. The resort was very nice - I put a review on trip advisor and the wedding was wonderful. The only dissapointment the entire trip was the videographer. He was 30 minutes late to the wedding and the quality of the video was very poor - we expcted much, much more for $200. The digital pics they took came out great and those, combined with ones we took at sunset on the beach and around the ground cost us US$ 120. I tried to get the $75 price, but to no avail.

We're joining Sandals Signature Guest program and received a 'buy 6 nights, get the 1st and last free' cerfificate from Sandals for use on our 1st anniversay, so we'll definetly be Sandals guests again - most likely to St. Lucia next year.

All in all a wedding and honeymoon to remember.
