Has anyone got any info on what happened to Don Lino Hotel (Hoguin) this year? Am worried about friends that worked there and would like to get any info I can.

    Hi Jan,

My husband and I and two friends were at Don Lino in Feb,98 and made many friends there, some of whom keep in touch.

They say that it was turned into a clinic for Cubans who wre recovering from illness. We believe this might only be a temporary condition and that the hotel might be undergoing some renovations which would make it unsuitable for tourists during this work but o.k. for the use they are making of it. It would be a shame if it didn't re-open as we thought it was perfect.

Some of the people we kept in touch with are - Amelia, the older waitress; she used to reserve a table for us every meal with a floral centrepiece. Luis, the barman and George the barman and George the waiter. Of course we knew Roger and Oscar and Roger has kept in touch with us although we havn't heard from him in a while.

E-mail me if you would like to chat more about Don Lino and the staff.

This Feb we are going to a place called Los Galeones which is on the south coast. It was the only place we could find that was comparable to Don Lino in size, and that was one of the things we particularly liked; that, and no kids!

    Kathy
