Dominican Airport Transfer

Has anyone used the company "Dominican Airport Transfer" (web name the same) for transfer between Santo Domingo Airport and a Punta Cana resort? Their service offers a less expensive shared ride than our resort ($70/rnd trip/person vs. $100/rnd trip/person). If you have used them, which one did you use and what did you think? We (husband and I) will be staying at the Barcelo Punta Cana. We looked at flying into the Punta Cana airport, but the Santo Domingo airport with a shuttle option is a couple of hundred less.
Thanks for any and all information.

I can't help you with the transfer recommendation, but I'd strongly urge you to reconsider your flights despite the cost savings. You're talking about a 2+ hour trip to Punta Cana, and then for your return, you really have to arrive in Santo Domingo 3 hours before your flight, so you lose, in effect, almost more than a full day of vacation time getting to and from the airport and waiting for your flights.

I realize that people do this transfer, but I really think you should reconsider, particularly if you are doing it on your own.

You might also check flights into La Romana, which is a bit closer than Santo Domingo. Jetblue has a flight there now from JFK, though it's an early morning flight, so it's not going to be much good to you unless you are leaving from JFK.

If you do a transfer from Santo Domingo, though, make it a private transfer regardless of the cost. That could shave an hour or more off your transfer time. If you have a shared ride, then you will be making several stops along the way, and that can add considerably to your travel time.
