I felt my bed shaking early this morning and I guess this is why. Very sad.

We did not feel it in the BVI's. Quite surprised to hear that you felt in all the way in St Marteen. My family on my Dad's side hails from Dominica so this is close to home. Thankfully there have been no reports of death but severe structural damage to several buildings in the north of the island including complete destruction of one of the many Catholic churches in the northern part of the island. Sounds like this is where most of the quake was felt. Apparently they are also having ALOT of rain over the last several days (like most of the islands of late) resulting in landslides etc - cutting off some villages from the rest of the island. Sad. Oh dear!
I am so glad to hear no one was injured on Dominica, but very sad to hear of the death on Guadeloupe.
I am sure I will get more info from Kimani in his next letter. (My CCF child.)
He lives in Castle Bruce in the northern part of the island and was no doubt without power.
Thanks for the photo link, Enya. Yes, we were also surprised we felt the tremor, although it was more of a swaying tremor than a thunderous tremor, like we usually feel here. My husband felt it in the other room at the same time as me, too. We are about 35 miles south of St. Maarten, so we are due west of Antigua, where it was also felt according to reports.
Diana, please update us when you have more info.
