We are looking to get away for a weekend to the Caribbean in January. We would like to fly non-stop (because we only have 4 nights) from the DC area, so that limits us to Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and the Bahamas. We would like a relaxing trip with the ability to hang at a beach AND go on nature excusrions (hiking, boating, etc). we dont necessarily need an AI, but are willing to try. Any ideas??? (no toga parties) thanks for your help, I have information overload.

Puerto Rico could certainly fit the bill. The flight is short, there's a variety of places to choose from to stay, and there is the rain forest, etc. for nature experiences.
The Treasure Beach/South Coast area of Jamaica and particularly MAR BLUE DOMICIL. in Old Wharf might well fit the bill. Great style, superb food in a non-resort non-touristic area with a wide variety of nature/boating/other
diversions. See www.jamaicaescapes.com and the Treasure Beach community Web site at www.treasurebeach.net for a closer look at this relatively unknown area off the beaten track.
