I am an american traveling to Nevis in April, and I was wondering what type of currency I should bring? I figure most places take credit card, but I am sure there will be places that won't.
Does money matter?

The "official" currency on Nevis is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar ($1US=$2.6882EC). $US are accepted everywhere but some smaller vendors will give you change only in $EC so it helps if carry a small "credit card" size calculator so you'll know what you are actually paying. Vendors will give you exchange rates between $2.65EC and $2.70EC to the $1US. Credit Cards are accepted at all hotels, resorts, most restaurants and most shops. Some, but not all, vendors mark both US and EC prices on items. Ask if you are unsure. If you don't have a calculator handy an easy "rule of Thumb" for converting $EC to $US is to divide EC price by 3 and add 10%. The result will get you fairly close to $US amount.
Thank you very much! That was very helpful!
