Hi everyone,
My best friend and I are traveling to St. Martin for 3 days in June and we are wondering if renting a car would really make traveling easier on the island. Since it's such a small place, I thought maybe taking the taxi or walking/biking would be more cost-efficient? Please share some of your experiences! Thanks so much!

Depends on where you are staying and what you wish to explore while there. If younare staying on Dutch side and want to explore/ eat on French side, I think the buses are still few anf ar between.
Went there many times but not in the past 5 or 6 years, so others may be more helpful.
Definitely rent a car. It's easy to drive around. Taxi's will be expensive. Regardless of where you stay, you will want to drive around this island.
I agree. If you really want to see the island, you will want a car. There is a lot to explore. And enjoy.
Hi Alice
Rent a car !
Car rental is pretty inexpensive compared to using taxis, and gives you a lot more freedom, but do take the optional insurance.
You should check for any scratches or dents etc when you check the car out, and make certain that they are noted on the rental sheet before accepting the vehicle.
It is a good idea to photograph any blemishes or missing wheel trims etc so that you can prove, when you return the car, that the damages were not YOUR fault.
I don't want to make it sound as if all the rental cars are 'beaten up', as they certainly are not, but there have been quite a number of instances where attempts have been made to charge visitors for pre-existing damages when they return the vehicle.
