Departure Tax in Aruba

Hi-

Is there a departure tax that you pay at the airport when you are leaving Aruba?

we heard the same thing, but paid nothing at the aruba airport on the way back. whats great is that you clear customs there, so when you arrive in the U.S (for us, it was JFK) you're in the clear, you only have to get your luggage! ;-)

Thanks so much for the replies- I looked at our e-tickets from AA and there are taxes listed but it does not itemize them so I don't know if the departure tax is included. I may give AA a call.

Not to worry. Departure Tax was included in the price of your airline ticket.

The departure tax was included in our package deal to Aruba. The only Island we ever had to come with departure tax was leaving St. Lucia. Why I don't know since we have always bought packages. Thank goodness we still had some cash on us.

My understanding is that only US based airlines and tour packages charge this fee. I have witnessed others paying it on departure, presumably people from EU or LA.

Thanks for the replies! I spoke with American Airlines and they said the departure tax was not included in my ticket. So, now I will be bringing extra cash with me to cover the departure tax at the airport.
