Day trips from San Juan without rental car

We spent about a week and a half last summer based in Rincon and explored a good bit of the western / southern side of the island. This trip we're staying in San Juan, mostly because I prefer urban to rural. :o) What are some good day trips we can do via tour company or even city bus (assuming they're safe) without a rental car? My children would like to do a zip line. We've been to the rain forest before with the older child, but the younger one has not seen it so that would be good, too.

What about definite "do's" and "don't do's" within San Juan itself?

Any and all suggestions for keeping an active 17yo boy and a 7yo girl busy are welcome! Thanks.
