Curtain Bluff or Biras Creek?

Planning a vacation to the caribbean with my husband for early May and can't seem to decide which resort to go to. Looking for small, quaint, charming resort with casual elegance. Elegant but relaxed atmosphere and nice beaches. Not into Sandals or Beaches resorts. I am 36 and my husband is 52. Don't need an all couples resort, but don't want to be overun by kids. Went to The Reefs in Bermuda twice and loved it, but am looking for something different. Has anyone been to either Curtain Bluff or Biras Creek? My only concern with Curtain Bluff is the reference to the country club atmosphere. Biras sounds great, but not sure if it's too rustic. Also thought about St. Barts, but may be too highbrow for us. Any recommendations for a nice, small elegant resort in a safe area? My only experience with the caribbean was Anguilla and didn't like it. Nice beaches, but not great scenery, very dry and lots of poverty.

I was having the very same problem. We have been to Brias twice and really enjoyed it but wanted something a little more upscale. Finally decided on Curtain Bluff as we are 48 and a young 60. Going the first part of May. Let me know if you decide to go also!

What about the Reef's sister resort -- Nisbet Planation on Nevis? It has everything you are looking for and Nevis is a fantastic little island. From what you are describing, this would be worth looking into.

Thanks for the advice. I was considering Nevis, but I've heard that the beaches are not great. I think we're leaning toward Curtain Bluff. Has anyone else been and if so, what do you think of the atmosphere?

Hi Bosco-I have stayed at Biras and I wouldn't call it rustic at all. Unless you call their great outdoor showers rustic, which they're not. The grounds and scenery are beautiful and the food top notch. You do have to ride bikes to the swimming beach(about a 1/2 mile from the cottages) but it is wonderful and you have a bar right there plus boats and things to take out. It is a magical place.
I have not stayed at Curtain Bluff, but I toured it while staying at Galley Bay. It looked nice, but the grounds were small. It did have a nice location right on the bluff, but as I recall, the swimming beach was not large. It has been a few years since I saw it, so it could have changed.
My choice would be Biras for it's lovely setting and beautiful location in the British Virgins.
