We stayed at the Lions Dive just down the way in a 2 bedroom apartment. 3 restaurants on site and several more within walking distance. Free daily shuttle to a local grocery store.

The Royal Sea Aquarium is a hotel/time share and if you can get in it is a bargain. It is not in walking distance of too many restaurants except fast food. The little restaurant at the hotel is not good but the rooms are lovely and the sites that accommodate 2 couples is a bargain. But you cannot count on no children though the two times we were thee we saw a few in October but under 5. It is a small place, probably 30 units. The pool though small is more than adequate for the number of guests. Witin a mile there is the new Hyatt with 2 restaurants and one other whose name excapes me.Best to eat there early because it becomesa social scene after 9-10 PM. I would rent a car with FULL insurance for 2 days and dine 2 nights at 2 restaurants under the Arches where there are 4-5 places. Also if you are into snorkeling from the Sea Aquaruim you drive to the WEST END, a 50-55 minutte drive, where there are a series of bays and along the boulders there is pretty good snorkeling. As you come to the bays you come to Klien Knip at Bay 1 and Captain Good life (we have not been there for 3 years) and he is a hoot0 and for about $20/person he will take you to some very good snorkel spots you cannot access from hore.I suggest you do not eat at Fort Nassau or the Portofino at the Marriott. We were very dissapointedat both.

Be sure you eat at the Bistro le Clochard at the Rifort! Great view; right on the water. Fantastic fondue, wonderful drinks, etc. A special treat!

thank you for the replies. We haven't settled on a place yet. Any advice on either Avila Hotel or La Maya Beach Apartments?

When we were considering, the Avila was on our list. We picked the Lions Dive due to better location. We did do a beach dinner at the Avila and from what we saw it was a very nice hotel.

i MIGHT SUGGEST YOU DO NOT EAT AT THE pORTOFINO IN THE MARRIOTT. It is C level food in my opinion as is Ft. nassau though at Nassau the views are lovely for a cocktail. The Avalon near the Sea Aquarium is a big social setting after 9 but at 7 it serves good food at resonable prices.
