Curacao - Kura Hulanda Hotel and Lodge Qs

We will be spending 8 days at those properties at the end of July/beginning of August. Any advice as to what to pack, especially what clothes to wear for dinner? Are shorts and a nice Hawaiian shirt acceptable for men? Or are long pants required? I am assuming that a dress or skirt with nice top will be fine for me... Any other advice on what to do and see in Curacao? We are renting a car and would like to explore the island a bit.

We stayed at the lodge in late May. It is beautiful. There is no dress code. Shorts will be fine there. I wore a dress one night but didn't need to...other nights, nice capris. We would have been fine in shorts and tees every night. My husband wore long pants or shorts. The resort was fairly empty when we were there. We did not rent a car and used this trip as a beach bumming/mild snorkeling time for us. The clothes you mention will be fine for the hotel in town. Capris and a nice top work well too.
Be sure to bring your water shoes. Type Lodge Kura Hulanda into the search box above and it should bring up a previous post where I went into more detail. The Lodge is a beautiful property, quite isolated.

Thanks, toppy. I read your posts about the lodge. Very helpful. We will spend 3 nights at the hotel in town and 5 nights at the lodge. Looking for mostly R&R and the possibility of spending time together with my husband sans kids for the first time in 12 years. Sounds like we picked good places for that.

I thought the whole Kura Hulanda complex was so charming and romantic and the restaurants were great. Be sure to have dinner at Astrolab (choose the patio rather than inside, it is such a pretty setting with flowers, fountain etc). Also Jaipur is outdoors by the pool, also very nice. We took a great snorkel trip on the schooner Insulinde and also enjoyed visiting various beaches and snorkeling.

We loved the Kura Hulanda property in town! They were just finishing the Lodge when we were there last March. Ditto what the previous poster said about Astrolab and Jaipur. Jacob's Bar had great happy hour specials on drinks. The pools were pretty, and the property itself was very memorable. One of the more unique places that we've stayed. I'm not sure whether they are still a member of the Leading Hotels of the World group (www.lhw.com), but if you sign up for their club (it's free), you might get a free room upgrade or something. I also found that the prices booking through the LHW website were less than through the hotel website, with more specials and packages available. Enjoy!
