We just got back from Cuatro Vientos in Santa Lucia and had a great time. Also on the same beach was Club Mayanabo and it looked fine too. The beach was beautiful.

You should stay away from Matanzas. My wallet was stolen there in 97. I recommend Old Havana, Playa del Este, Santa Clara, Trinidad and the Bay of Pigs with the war museum. Nils
All inclusive Super Club Varadero in Varadero is a great place. Good meals, international drinks, lost of activities, large pool, long white immaculate beach, scouba diving included if you are certified or course for those who are not. Not much to see however around except some excursion tours i.e. Havana

I wouldn't recommend Hotel & Club TRYP in Cayo Coco Cuba. Nice looking resort on a beautiful beach ... but, the service was not there (need double the workers), and the food was beyond horrible! We spent most of our holiday standing in one line or another! Overall we had an ok holiday and the area is nice...but I wouldn't return to this resort!
I won't get into more details. Feel free to email me for my trip report if you were considering this area or resort.
Leslie.

Just back from Cuba last week after third trip there. Last stayed at Super Clubs Sierra Mar near Santiago de Cuba.
Accomodations was three star, food was good and losts of variety, beach was not as nice as some (dark sand not white) but water good. Staff was excellent and very friendly. Check with World of Vacations for prices dates etc. Also
stayed at Club Caracol in 1996. Excellent place at Playa Santa Lucia. We flew into Holquin and took an hour bus trip. Accomodation was excellent, beach was excellent and food pretty good. Both places had side trips for exploring the island. Stayed at the Ancon in 1995
and was somewhat disapointed as accomodations and food were jsut so-so. However, when flying back from Cuba last week I sat next to a fellow who had spent two weeks there and has been going there for the past three years. He said that the Ancon has been re-modeled and really nice now. The food is good and he plans to return next year. I may consider returning there as well. I believe the Ancon is featured in the Sunquest book, and the Club Caracol is
in Air Transat or World of Vacations. You will love Cuba, it is a beautiful island and the people are wonderful. Good luck and enjoy your vacation

Hi:
I would reccoment Karen to consider visiting varadero before considering all the other regions of Cuba, considering that she is interested in an all inclusive holiday. Because Varadero is Cuba's #1 resort destination, not only are the facilities better than at other destinations, but the choice of accomodations is greater, and the beach is better. I mean, not even Cayo coco's beach is as good. The only one that came close was Cayo largo, but oh boy, thats like going to cuba and not going to cuba. It is totally isolated to the main island. And the facilities did not come close to varadero. Facilities, in my opinion, are important, since the quality of the holiday is likely to depend on the service, accomodations, and entertainment, along with food and other things. In other words, varadero is the better place to go. Now, with all due respect to all those who responded previously , they seemed to lose sight of the fact that you, karen, are interested in a cheap all inclusive deal. Now, while it is true(and i say it from personal experience) that Superclubs Club Varadero is an excellent resort, leaving up to the reputation and expectations of other superclubs resorts, and offering great accomodations, good to very good food, and great facilities and excellent service, this resort does not come cheap. In fact, it is one of the most expensive in varadero, and since it is a very honeymoony couply resort, it really never goes on sale or in special because there is always high demand for it.so, you might not even be able to book there with a few weeks prior to departure. what i am trying to say is that this place gets booked up pretty quickly> In fact, when all other resorts in varadero still have rooms in them, Superclubs Club Varadero is all booked. Now, not to worry, there is plenty of other good all inclusive resorts in varadero. Now, on that note about superclubs club varadero, i think that this resort is wonderful, cozy, and the service and food are top notch. I would give it a 9 out of ten in terms of that. Now, unless you are a couple, or are travelling with friends , i would stay away from this resort, as it is very very couply, and a single traveller might feel totally and completely out of place here. I mean 99.9% of the people there were couples.Even the entertainment was pretty much geared toward couples. it was not bad, but it was not that great either. This place is a heaven for couples, and hell if you are single. If you are single here, you are going to die of boredom. The nighly shows are done during dinner time, in the restaurant at 9:30PM, so if you dont happen to be there at that time, you dont get to see it. I just thought i would mention this just because you, karen, did not specify if you would be travelling alone or not.I did not find this place to be very social. Now you did not specify your age either, the clientele here tends to be 30years and up. Very few young people here. So, if you are a young gal, then thats something to think about.anyways, i want to say that this is a great resort, very very good quality, but not very good in terms of the atmosphere if you are a single traveller.
Karen, there is plenty of other good all inclusive resorts. Stay away from the hotels located in town. You see, it all depends on what you mean by a "cheap deal". There is other good all inclusives. Sol Club Las Sirenas strikes me as an excellent resort. I mean, it is a good 4 star resort, with good accomodations , food ,and service. It is pretty as it is new, whereas superclubs club Varadero is older, very very nice atmosphere, diverse, so noone feels left out, a more social place, excellent entertainment, i mean better than at superclubs club Varadero, and more fun too. The resort is lovely, in many respects almost as good as superclubs Club varadero, and in others the same or even a bit better. when it comes to accomodations, Superclubs Club Varadero is a bit better, as well as in food, but hey Las Sirenas is almost as good. But when it comes to fun, and activities, oh lAs sirenas is so much better. way better. The differences in food and accomodations are not that big, or evn significant. To be honest, sirenas is prettier in my opinion. And very nice.

there is other resorts in cuba, but i reccomend las sirenas if you are young, or single, or are travelling with family, or anyone really, everyone has fun here, i would reccomend Superclubs Club Varadero, if you are a couple who wants a couply atmosphere.
karen, i hope you have a good time in cuba, wherever you go. by

Stayed 2 yrs. ago in Camaguey Santa Lucia, Club Amigo Mayanabo (now called
Qualton Club Mayanabo) - it's only a
3 star but rooms were clean, food good
and staff very friendly. Resort had lots of activities throughout the day
and evening shows. Not much to see - there were a few tours you can take, but
a nice beach and beautiful cystal clear
water - reef is right there - excellent
snorkeling. Have fun!
