We are planning to get married next May and are torn between a regular fly/hotel Carribean holiday or a Cruise? I have been under the impression that Cruises are for people in their 50's +. Is this correct? Will their be evening activities to meet people, like an all inclusive resort? How much more does stopping at a different island every day add to the cost of a cruise? Any help would be much appreciated.

First of all Congradulations!... Second, do the cruise. It's the best price bet in town for all that you get. Pick up a bunch of books and see what each ship/line has to offer. Some cater to the "older" crowd and some to the younger generation. You did not mention your age... 25 or so?... The new Canival ships tend to heve younger passengers, while Holand America has 55+. Check the entertainment on the ship. Some have real shows while others are a waste of time. The port stops will not cost you anything if you just want to browse and not take any side tours. I have gone on the SS Norway (old SS France) 15 times and have taken my children. I opted for a lot of theme cruises. Baseball, hockey, 50-60's, etc. I'm looking at a cruise for this Oct and may try one of the newer Royal Carribean ships. On our last cruise on the Norway we sat a a table for four. The couple just got married and were 23 years old. They had a ball. Would you beleive that they had the same last name as us? Small world... Have fun.. and watch the sun....

Congratulations, also.
We just returned from a cruise. It was the best time we've had on a vacation. There was tons of things to do. On the Sensation, there were at least 6 lounges with different types of music in each. Each day you receive a Carnival caper paper telling you what is happening that day, like men's hairy chest competition, limbo contest, welcome aboard party, etc. We had a table of 8 and they were the best!!

From all the research I have done..... and all the feedback I have gotten about cruises... Royal Caribbean is definately the way to go .... Carnival is great if you want to go with a group of people and party! I too am looking for what I will do on my honeymoon and it's a choice between Royal Caribbean cruise or Bermuda and possibley Hawaii....
Norweigan etc. usually have an older crowd....

Congrats! Definitely cruise! We've been on three, one Carnival, two Norwegian (including the Norway which was our honeymoon).
Carnival is definitely the youngest crowd, although their new policy banning singles under 21 may start to change the booze-cruise reputation.
We love Norwegian, but have friends who swear by Princess, and who are about to go on Celebrity.
We prefer five ports on a seven day cruise to the three port itineraries, but the cruise cost is a little higher (more port charges included). But as someone else mentioned, do your own thing on the island (avoid the high-priced tour packages), and it's quite affordable.
There are honeymooner get togethers early during the cruise, so you'll be in good company.

Hi, congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I definately recommend the cruise. We will be taking our fifth in April and highly recommend Princess. There are passengers from 20 - 70 and everyone has a good time. There is lots of things to do, great live entertainment every night or you can have a quiet romantic evening on the deck. Try not to do too many shore excursions from the ship, they tend to be expensive. We usually hire ourselve a taxi when we dock and have the driver take us where we want to go. Besh wishes! Have you even considered a Windjammer Cruise? In my opinion there is nothing more romantic as sailing in the Caribbean with the person you love. They have many ships and destinations, some with cabins that have queen size beds. Have you thought of chartering your own boat with crew,through The Moorings, or thought of renting a home. On almost every island they have homes with all sorts of wonderful features. They come with or without staff,pool,car etc. Check out the Caribbean Travel and Life magazine. TAKE THE CRUISE!!!!! I highly recommend Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. I have cruised with them three times (once on my honeymoon) and loved every minute. My husband has been on three R.C. cruises and two Carnival cruises. He agrees that R.C. has much more class than other lines. We are both in our twenties and love to have a good time (in bars, casinos, shore excursions) but also appreciate Royal Caribbean's classy style. Carnival tends to use too much neon and focus on cheesey activities. Plus, if you're going in May, prices will be less expensive than peak season. Feel free to e-mail me if you want more details.
