Have been reading posts on TA about the brazen crime incidents occurring on the island and in restaurants. We will be going in the next week (have been there twice before) and wondered if it's safe to rent a car and drive at night for dinner. Surprised that Fodor's Forum has had no mention of these crimes.....especially that it happened at high end place like Blanchards.
Any comments....

As of this morning the thread on TripAdvisor has 187 responses - everything that can be said about the situation has already been covered and discussed to the nth degree on that forum. Most regular contributors and people like yourself who are looking for advice search both forums so what help would there be to having the same points raised here. It would only rehash what has already been written and it won't change how YOU feel.
You already know the situation and now have to decide for yourself if you will feel safe on the island.
