My husband and I are thinking about Couples Negril and would like some details about it. What type of room should we request without spending a fortune? How's the food/service? Do they have the floating mats for the pool? Any tidbits that I need to request when I talk with my travel agent? I also heard there is a new resort opening aside of Couples. Will this interfere with our stay (privacy)? I would appreciate any info. you have so I can be reassured I'm making a good choice!
Couples Negril-wise choice?

Couples Negril is great, you will love it, the resort opening next door is the Almond Bay and that is also to be a nice resort. Although pricey I would suggest getting at least an Oceanview room, this way you can sit on you veranda and watch the ocean which is nice, the food there is also great, i put alot of people at this resort and they always say great things

Angela,
Just back from a February 4-night trip to Couples Negril. We loved it. Get the standard room, the only other different room is the "suite" which are located on the ends of the buildings by the walkways, yes they're bigger but less private. We had lots of privacy on the second floor, I liked the room. Nice size balcony, couldn't see into neighboring rooms. The buildings are angled to the beach, so not worth getting an "oceanview" IMHO. Food and service were great. Lots of fresh vegetables, good fish, Jamaican specialties at every meal. Be sure to make res at Otaheite (gourmet restaurant) as soon as you get there (strict dress code too - no sandals for guys). Lots of floating mats and lounge chairs (and we were there in high season). George (above) was mistaken: the resort opening next door is called the Rui Palace. Huge. Since Couples is located on a small cove(Bloody Bay) I do think it will have a negative impact...perhaps if you go after May 1st the crowds will be less...
By the way, if you do a search on this forum for "couples negril" you will see mine and many other helpful comments. Good luck!
