Hi! I have decided on Jamaica for a delayed honeymoon this June with the help of the great people on this forum. Now I am just having a problem deciding between couples negril or couples swept away. There seem to be some differences between the resorts such as location, feel of the resort etc. Basically I want to know if the location of Couples Negril is as good as Swept Away. I would like to be able to walk to some good locations for nightlife and don't want to rely on cabs to get around. I heard this is possible on 7mile beach but Couples Negril is located on Bloody Bay Beach and I don't know how far that is from 7mile beach. Also does anyone have an opinion on which resort is more romantic? I see that Couples Negril has jacuzzi's but I haven't seen a picture of one at Swept away. Does anyone have any info on these questions? Sorry for so many but I just want to choose the best possible spot for my honeymoon. Thanks so much!

CSA is wonderful! I have stayed there 4 times and loved it each time. The reviews on this property (www.tripadvisor.com) are universally excellent.

The beach is beautiful and the grounds lush and private.

I have only been to CSA and really enjoyed it. I like the location because you can walk all the way to Negril if you like. My understanding is that you have to either take a cab or walk on the road to get from CN to the main beach. Go to the couples website mentioned above to find out about hot tubs. I went several years ago and there was one in the main resort area and one on the other side of the road at the sports complex. They may have added more with the new buildings.

Thanks for your input! How did you guys feel about the food there? I keep reading that Swept Away is a resort for the health conscious so I wasn't sure if they had a good variety of food or if it was mainly salads and fruit and things like that. Also, do they have any kind of entertainment at night like reggae bands, etc. I read that couples negril have beach parties and wanted to know if swept away is the same as far as activities like that....

CSA has a wide variety of food. They do have a juice bar anc such but you can certainly avail yourself of a wide variety of foods there.

I think you are referring to their excellent fitness facilities for which they are widely known.


They have a piano bar that is quite lively and also evening entertainment. There are also lots of nightlife choices nearby if it is too low key for you.

I too am struggling with the same decision.......... Swept Away vs. Couples Negril. The beach issue is a big one for us as well, however Couples Negril has the swim up bar and Swept Away does not. I am not into health conscience foods, so that too concerns me. Looking for more advise on these two resorts. Pros/Cons.......

I sent away for their brochure which you may want to do from their website, it is a beautiful booklet with awesome pictures not on their website.

I actually booked swept away but still find myself looking back and forth at both resorts. There are so many conflicting opinions! I have been able to answer most my questions by reading the message boards on the couples website but the one question I still have is concerning the water. I am not a good swimmer but I love the water. I would like to be able to float in the ocean and not be knocked over by any waves. Does anyone know which has calmer water. I heard that CN might be better because it's a bay....

When I was at Swept Away - both times - the water was as calm as a bathtub. The cushions on the chairs double as floats and you could float for hours - if it weren't for sunburn. I have never seen waves in Negril. I guess it could get choppy in a storm but I can't imagine getting close to being knocked down. The pictures of the water on the website is accurate - you can see that the water just gently laps the shore.

Ok, now I feel much better! I went to mexico last year and the water was way too rough for me to go in so I didn't want the same to happen again..thanks for your help!

In my four visits to CSA the water was always tranquil and I never saw a wave. I have been to Negril 19 times and never experienced anything other than perfect seas.

CSA has a spectaular beach and you made a great choice. Enjoy!

We decided on Couples Negril, we wanted the swim up bar, the clothing optional beach, we are not fitness enthusiasts, nor health conscience eaters.

Hi. I've been to both Couples Negril and Couples Swept Away. CSA is more romantic and fit for a honeymoon. There are at least 2 jacuzzis that I remember, so that's not a problem. The location is definitely better than Couples Negril. However, you'll probably have to take a cab to restaurants or spots at night - you're generally not permitted to walk beyond the hotel boundaries on the beach at night for safety reasons (they have guards posted at either end of the property). FYI, there are no TVs in the rooms at CSA, although this may not be a bad thing on a honeymoon While I'm sure you'd also have fun at Couples Negril, I'd definitely opt for CSA. Have fun!!

If you are interested in traveling to restaurants or nightspots, why are you looking at all-inclusives? My husband and I spent our tenth anniversary at CN. We loved it- and we didn't leave the resort, except for boating and snorkeling. I don't recall anything in walking distance of CN except for other resorts.

The beach, food, and activities suited us well- but we were also one of the few up and playing tennis at 9 am each morning....so is CN "as good as" CSA- it really depends!!! To us, it was the right choice, but I'm not sure it would be for you. Have a great honeymoon-congratulations!

When I first decided to travel to Jamaica I had some reservations because of the negative things I had heard about the island. So I figured an all inclusive was the way to go. Now that I've been reading so much on these forums and learning more about the island, I am very interested in being able to explore a little more than just staying on my resort. So although I am booked at an all inclusive I still would like to be able to see a little of the island and maybe try a few different restaurants and clubs...then hopefully the next time we visit I will know more about the island and can book a non-inlcusive hotel and venture around the island every day...but for now I am already booked. But I have heard nothing but wonderful things about both couples swept away and negril so I'm sure I won't be disappointed. Thanks for your help!

It'smuch easier to go off the resort on foot from CSA as it's on the main beach. Walk to the water, turn left and all along the next 4 miles or so there are tons of live music places, bars, craft stands, restaurants, glass bottom boats and great people-watching

You can also grab a taxi on the street to the cliffs or town. Red plates only, settle the price before you get in and have exact change. Getting one on the street will be cheaper than taking one that parks at CSA but you can do that too.

I have the Couples brochure and CSA states there are satellite TVs "only available in veranda suite categories"...

just got back from CSA yesterday, and must say that the place is spectacular! I had heard great things about it, but it far exceeded my expectations. I would recommend it without hesitation to anyone and definitely intend on returning. It is a perfect honeymoon destination, in my opinion.
As far as leaving the resort, we took a cab to a couple of night spots, and wouldn't necessarily do that again. We felt as safe as kittens at the resort, but going into town is a whole different experience. We're young and not paranoid, generally speaking, but felt a little vulnerable outside of the safety of the resort! If you are intent on venturing outside of the resort, I don't think walking to the nightlife is a great idea, no matter where you stay--at least not after dark. Your hotel can call you a trustworthy cab. I'm happy to answer any other questions you may have. otherwise, have fun!

We stayed at Idle Awhile (13 rooms) which is owned by Couples. We tried to walk along the beach to use the pool at Swept Away but you can't walk to the AI section of the beach without getting very, very wet! Realistically you will have to walk on the road (10 mins)to get to access the beach, we walked through Foote Prints.

The pool at Swept Away was very nice but it had lanes, no splashing around in that pool.
We met a couple at the airport who had loved their visit but never left the resort - not our kind of vacation although to be honest we were total 'beach bunnnies'. It was nice to be able to walk up and down the beach to figure out where to go for breakfast, lunch and dinner. No worries about walking along the beach even in the dark.
If you do go all inclusive and fancy a change Kuyaba will collect you from your hotel and deliver you back using a complimentary service.
