Coral Reef Club - closing for renovations

I thought I had finally found the perfect place to go for a "big" birthday in May but just read that they are closing for renovations at the end of 5/06.

If we went earlier - say the first half of May - would anyone think service or anything else would suffer due to the impending closure? Or would they keep everything the same until the very end? I know it's anyone's guess...I've emailed them to get their opinion.

Also, I'm wondering if the fact that renovations are being done means that things right now are not quite as spiffy as you'd want. I know I'm better off waiting and taking advantage of the renovations & going there next year. I guess it's back to the drawing board.

Is there another hotel in Barbados that compares?

i am surprized that they will be doing renovations again as they just completed big one just a couple of years ago. I really would doubt that they let their service or anything else down just because they closing. It is just not that kind of a place.

I've since learned that's it's an annual refurbishing more than renovation and, as you said, nothing suffers in the preceding weeks.
I'm booked to go mid-May.

Yay!

Hi Leslie
what date are you going, as we are going there after a week in the Grenadines. As you say mid May, I suspect you will be there a week after us, as we arrive the second week in May. I am really looking forward to it

I stayed in Barbados last year at the Colony CLub, but checked out a bunch of other hotels, including the Coral Reef, for future stays in Barbados. For my money, I couldn't find a better hotel than the Crane. I can't wait until I can find time to schedule a trip. The beach is phenomenal, the old hotel is charming, and the new suites are EXTREMELY nice with gorgeous views. I would do a little research into what stage their construction is under (it may be completed), but I would definitely look into this hotel. Oh, I'm longing for it right now!
