confirmed seating on flights from Puerto Rico
We are planning our very first trip out of the US (May 2008) and could not get a non-stop flight. We will land in Puerto Rico to catch another plane. Someone just mentioned that we will have to confirm our seating from Puerto Rico to Antigua and I have no idea what that means or how to go about taking care of the issue. I also saw a posting that gave a website to check all flight schedules in the US... now I can't find it again. Can someone give me some basic info on flying out of the US and help ease my anxiety? I'm not afraid to fly, I'm afraid to get stranded somewhere! I have only flown non-stop from New England to Disney World!

What airline are you flying from PR to Antigua? You should have a confirm number with them. Call them and ask them to assign seating. If it is a small plane, they may assign only at the airport. Don't fret, relax and enjoy your vacation!!

Laurie01,
First off where are you flying from and on what airlines??? Once in San Juan if you are flying with one of the smaller Caribbean airlines you may have to check in but if you are with American or one of the major airlines you should be set straight on through your flight. The larger airlines websites generally allows you to see your seats and even change them if you wish. I would confirm my flight reservations either by phone or on the internet 24 hours before my flight.

Its American Airlines, so not likely a small plane. I have plenty of time for planning, I guess I'm just a little nervous about forgetting something silly or not thinking about something obvious. We are coming from CT and have never been too far from home. We have purchased several books on carribean islands in preparation for this trip. Still, every time someone mentions something that I didn't read about or haven't heard before, I feel the need to check it out. Thanks, I DO need to relax!

Actually, on American Airlines it likely is a small plane from San Juan to Antigua because most of these flights are on American Eagle. But you don't need to worry about re-confirming. You'll get a seat assignment, and if you are an AA frequent flier, you can do it on the AA web site. Otherwise, you'll get the seat when you check in for the flight to San Juan. Don't worry, and just relax. You'll have a great time in Antigua.
