Conditions in Grand Cayman

Can anyone tell me what condition the 7 mile beach is in in Grand Cayman? Some of the pix I have seen it seems to be a very narrow beach. Is it in good condition, or should we go elsewhere? We were looking for a villa or condo on SMB over Thanksgiving. Thanks!

7MB is in great condition! I guess maybe it would depend where you are staying to know what size stretch of beach you have. We stayed at the Westin last year and their beach was fantastic - not small at all!

Grand Cayman is a beautiful island to vacation. You will enjoy it there!

We just returned and the beaches are fine. It is quite enjoyable, especially if oyu like water sports. We snorkeld, went diving, fished for bone fish on a fly and rented wave runners. It is a great place for a lot of water activites.

It all depends on what part of 7M beach you're on. In front of the Ritz and Westin, it's wide. In front of the Hyatt it's moderate. In front of the Marriott it's somewhat narrow.

We were there in the end of April and 7 Mile Beach in front of Courtyard was beautiful with wide soft pinkish sand and water crystal clear. What is a location of a villa or condo you want to rent?

We just returned yesterday. Best part of 7mb is in front of Plantana. No construction near no rocks on shore like thier is in front of the Galleon. Trust me on this one we walked the beach several times daily from the Marriott to Discovery Pt.

Anyone have recent experience with Snuba on Cayman? We loved it in Hawaii ... but can't get a response from the only tour operator in Cayman who offers Snuba. Want my teens to enjoy this experience next week!

Building is from the Coralstone just past the Strand. For the shoreline pure sand past the Gov's house 2 the north. Villas of the Galleon have only 20 of the units open out of 75 since the storm. Heard work going on in the interior daily. Just seemed like more rocks along the shore line at the VOG than thier used 2 be. I do remember a piece of concrete slab lying at the shoreline at the VOG not 2 big maybe 3ft sq. I guess a present from Ivan.

We had inquired about a condo at Regal and at Casa Caribe. Does anyone know which is nicer, and what the beach in front is like? Thanks!

Save your time. Regal not a nice beach area. Casa Carine an ok area. Plantana area is the best condition at this time. Just back on 7/20. But who am I too say?

I have a friend who was on 7 mile beach last week and thought there was a lot of construction going on. She was at the Westin and wasn't happy that they didn't tell her about it.
Anyone else think it's annoying? I would like to go down within the next few months, but not if I have to listen to bulldozers on the beach.
Thanks!

I was there a few months ago--January--and made note of the condition of the shoreline too. I thought it had changed from a visit 2 yrs ago, as far as it being a bit rockier. But my memory was it started getting rocky(pebbles is a better work) right past Carribean Club condos and heading south. Enough that I will probably pick up a pair of water sandals/socks for the next trip.

I wonder if the construction that bothered the guest at the Westin was from the Villas of Galleon. The other side is open until the Gov's place. There is no doubt alot of new construction taking place along Seven Mile Beach so it's best to check out any and all boards/maps for exact locations.

We've stayed next door to construction and it didn't bother us. We'll be returning in 2 weeks and have chosen the same location. But I fully understand those that don't want it. I guess it just hasn't reached our limit yet
