Clear Calm Water Caribbean Destinations

Hi All!

My boyfriend and I are planning a caribbean vacation for mid May. I am looking for clear - calm - gorgeous water at a fancy resort with a big nice pool(s) possibly a swim up bar as my boyfriend and I are in our late 20s looking to have some fun! Turks and caicos' water is perfect but the resorts in our price range $300-$400/ night seem dated and shabby. Any suggestions for other destinations???

Thanks Holly

There's no dated and shabby resorts in Turks and Caicos, but there's also no nightlife

T&C has the most gorgeous clear and calm turquoise water you'll ever see along with Anguilla and some islands in Bahamas, but is one of the most expensive islands.

In your price range, with swim up bars, and I assume nightlife you need to stick to Mexico, anywhere Cancun, Playa area will do

The water isn't usually as calm, but it is turquoise

Sorry, but in the Caribbean "fancy resort" and "$300-$400/night" isn't realistic. That's not to say you can't find a nice resort in that price range but rather it probably won't meet most people's definition of "fancy".

As for the other destinations you tagged if you think resort prices for wha you want are high in the Turks & Caicos then you probably should eliminate the Cayman Islands as prices are on a par with or even higher than the T&C's.

Your best bet will be the Dominican Republic as that's one of the most budget friendly islands in the Caribbean and there are a lot of resorts that have big pools with swim up bars that cater to the younger tourists such as yourselves. It's a great destination for couples in their late 20's and early 30's to "have some fun". Look at resorts in Punta Cana you should find exactly what you are seeking there.

The Bahamas Out-islands will have the "clear- calm- gorgeous water" you are seeking but don't expect to fid a "fancy resort" in your price range and many of the resorts in the Bahamas don't have pools and those that do will have small ones. In addition, the added cost for airfare too reach the more remote out-islands will probably off-set room prices making your overall cost higher.

Thank you both. Just wanted to hear opinions of what would most closely relate to my dream of an ideal vacation. Ive never been anywhere in the caribbean so I don't know what is feasible. I will look into the dominican and mexico! If you have other suggestions (besides my tags too) i'm all ears!
Thanks

Several islands have clear calm water, no idea which properties have swim up bars

West coast of Barbados, St James area - nightlife in St Lawrence/Gap for your age group, properties can be expensive.

Antigua has lots of beautiful beaches and nightlife around Shirley Heights, a modest hotel like Jolly Beach is on a stunning beach

Grenada - Grand Anse beach, not sure about nightlife, probably confined to the hotel activities or restaurants

Aruba - gorgeous beaches and a fun island

Negril Jamaica, gorgeous beach with lots of accomodation options, a place with lots of nightlife

St Lucia has calm waters in Reduit Beach, the sand is beige rather than white, the water is calm and there is plenty of nightlife in Rodney Bay.
