Christmas in the Caribbean

Hey,

with my family (5 adults) we are thinking to go to the Caribbean for Christmas this year.
We did some research and Curacao seems to be good. We'd like to have a very relaxed trip, spending a lot of time at the beach (we will rent a car so we want to go to different beaches every day. We want to enjoy the water doing some snorkeling but we don't dive. Do you think is the right place for us?
Does someone have been there during Christmas time? Is the weather nice? How's the temperature of the water to swim in? Any recommendations of nice beaches?
Also, we were thinking to rent a villa or apartment. Any recommended websites where to book? And what area of the island to stay at?

Any other recommendation and suggestion is welcome

Thank you!

Predicting weather anywhere in the world is always a guess but generally speaking weather throughout the Caribbean around Christmas time is usually good. You can research average weather statistics for Curacao (or any other place for that matter at: www.weather base.com - just click your way through to the "Caribbean" then "Curacao". If you want more detailed weather statistics including charts showing actual weather conditions for every day during any given period over the last 10 years go to www.wunderground.com - type your intended destination in the search box then scroll down to the "History and Almanac" section and follow the prompts. By doing that little bit of research you'll lean more about the weather for any location than most locals.

Water temperatures should be in the low to mid-80's F.

For info on rentals the internet is your friend. Simple Google searches using such topics as "Rental Villas on NAME OF ISLAND", "Vacation Condos on NAME OF ISLAND" will bring up scores of links and review for just about every vacation unit on any given island.

Likewise, googling topics like "Best beaches on NAME OF ISLAND" and " Things to do on NAME OF ISLAMD" will give you access to tons of helpful information.

HINT: If you are making plans for this coming Christmas don't waste too much time deciding on which island you wish to visit and which villa or condo you wish to rent. The time the two weeks surrounding Christmas and New years is the busiest week of the year in the Caribbean and many places are rented out a year in advance. You can expect to pay the highest room/rental rates of the year and many places have minimum stay requirements. Also expect high airfares and limited availability of seats on any given flight as they too get booked up fairly early. Don't expect any 'bargains".
