We are planning on going to Bermuda for Christmas. But before I make my reservation - I wanted to know if resturants and shops will be closed between Christmas and New Year's. The hotels are much cheaper during that time - and I wondered why.
Any information would be much appreciated.

Trip Ideas
The hotels are less expensive b/c it is cold during that time. But if that doesn't bother you then go & have a good time.
Cold? I celebrated last year on the beach in jeans, bare feet and a t-shirt. It's usually gorgeous here at Christmas.
Shops and most restaurants will be closed on Christmas and the 26th. Public transportation will be operating on a limited schedule those days. I find those quiet days great for exploring the island, because you're not competing with everyone else.
Historically, ave temps in Bermuda are:

December: High 70, Low 63
January: High 69, Low 61
But,these are only averages. Just to compare, I have been to Palm Beach, Florida for Chrstmas/New Years where the ave temps for December are High: 75 & Low 58 and January High: 74 & Low: 56 and it has been freezing! Low 40's. ( It's odd that the lows I have quoted here are higher in Bermuda than in SoutEast Florida which makes no sense so maybe these numbers are not valid)
To me, the above temperatures are "cold" in Bermuda if you are looking for a beach holiday or warm, Caribbean weather. But, to txgirlinbda, I guess that's not "cold". Definitions of "cold" are relative.
Yes, txgirlinbda, certainly nice weather for walking, shopping etc. But, I just want to make sure that the OP knows what to expect. Oh, & btw, we were wearing hoods, gloves & scarves in Florida (which is farther south than Bermuda!!)
That's why we went to Aruba the next year!
Thank you for replies. We will be coming down from Baltimore and temperatures in the 50's and 60's will be welcome.
