You don't mention where you're coming from or what time of year your are traveling. The cheapest fares from where I live (San Francisco) are to San Juan, followed by St. Marteen.

We were looking for a quickie vacation for Labor Day. Go out to usair.com and look at their vacation specials or funjet or go to your travel agent.

They have packages from our airport which always costs a fortune to fly out of. Anyhow, they have packages from our airport - for the flight, hotel, and 3 meals a day packages start at less than $900 per person to Jamaica and Dominican Republic. They are at mega-resorts, not the type of thing I like, but I thought those were great deals.

The time of the year you're traveling can make a huge difference in ticket price.

From the northeast, cheapest flights tend to be to San Juan, Dominican Republic (Punta Cana tends to be the highest of all the other DR destinations), Montego Bay (Jamaica), Nassau (Bahamas), Grand Bahama Island (Bahamas), Bermuda. Flights to Cancun, Aruba and Grand Cayman can sometimes be cheap.

Also check out flights to St. Thomas. Generally, the larger islands with the larger airports and the higher number of tourists have the most competitive fares.

American Airlines is currently running a fare sale for travel to the Caribbean in September and October. You might want to check out what they have available if you can travel in the next two months.

When are you going and from where? Air Jamaica is having a great fall sale to Grenada. I'm a Grenada fan so I'm always on the lookout for cheap flights there. It was something like $520 including taxes from BWI to GND when I looked yesterday.

Why don't you check out http://caribbean-airlines.com/ , they sometimes have great deals going on their online portal. Also I would suggest booking at least 2-3 months in advance, that way you have better chances of getting your hands on great deals, not just on flights but accommodation as well. Good luck.
