celebrating 40

I am trying to find a nice place to go for when I turn 40. I don't want to spend an arm and a leg. Looking to go sometime in either May or June 2015. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Looking for somewhere that we can walk to the nightlife and not have to worry about renting a car.

Define what "an arm & leg" means to you. Without a dollar point of reference that term is meaningless. Give us your actual budget otherwise we are just guessing at what you can afford.

Does that budget include airfare? If so, where are you flying from?

How long a trip are you planning?

What type of activities interest you? All you've told us is you want to walk to nightlife! What do you plan to do during the day?

I am not sure what your interests are or what your budget is but assuming you want a beach and nightlife I would suggest either San Juan PR or Aruba. I have recently been to both places and you can easily enjoy the nightlife without renting a car. Assuming you are Ok with taking taxis, there are actually a wide range of nightlife options in both places. However, if you really only want to to walk and not even take a taxi, then consider Condado in San Juan PR or Palm Beach Aruba. this forum is not the best source of info for either of those places, so for more info on those locations I would check out trip advisor. Another option is Grand Case in St. Martin. You can stay in a nice boutique hotel on the the beach and walk to amazing Caribbean/French restaurants each nice. The nightlife on the French side of St. Martin is more eating a late and long dinner or drinks at a quiet bar rather than loud bars or casinos.

I know people who like Playa del Carmen in Mexico for the ease of walking to restaurants and nightlife as well.

There are plenty of bars and restaurants on the beach in Negril, Jamaica too. If you stay in Rodney Bay, St Lucia or St Lawrence/Gap Barbados, you can walk to bars/restaurants.

I'm not sure how anyone can make a suggestion when all we know is they want to walk to nightlife. Well, heck, pretty sure (depending on where you stay) most islands could fall under that request.

So until I know more, at least 75% of all the islands in the Caribbean will work!! LOL
