Hi, my husband and our 2 year old daughter are considering Cuba only because of the price compared to the more exotic carribean islands that we are more accustomed to, has anyone been to cayococo cuba, and if so which hotel would you recommend? Good food and on the beach is essential, Kelly in Canada

Hi Kelly,
I have stayed at Cayo Guillermo which is only a little further than Cayo Coco and it was very nice.
The food is quite good and the beach is awesome, especially for a two year old as there are lots of sand banks where the water is really shallow and very warm. My husband and I sat in this water one day and watched all the little fish swim around us.
The hotel name is Sol Melia Cayo Guillero. It is very compact and the beach restaurants and pool are all nearby. If you decide to go there have your travel agent try to book your room # at the time you make the reservation and ask for a number between 500 & 700, these are the best locations for being near everything.
If I can be of any more help, contact me direct.

My husband & I stayed at Club Tryp Cayo Coco in January 2000 with our 5 and 8 year old. The beaches are beautiful and the pools are "kid friendly" with lots of shallow area even for a 2 year old. The buffet restaurants offer fairly good food with lots of variety, cheeses, bread, fruits, etc. Great for small children. We're going back.
Hi, we stayed at Cayo Guil. two years ago, when I was pregnant, wonderful, quiet spot with an unbelievable beach. Everybody was very friendly and easy to get to know.
Last year we went to Hotel Tryp on Cayo Coco. We were originally booked into the Club Tryp, but we found the Hotel Tryp to be much more beautiful and lush, less new and condo looking. Definately choose old over new! Our daughter was only four months old, but we would definately consider going back when she's a little older. Maybe this year! I wouldn't recommend springing for the more expensive superior package; basically it adds the option to eat at the a la carte restaurants, and if you have kids, the buffet's were it's at.
