Cayman Island bound
We are leaving at the end of the month for a week in the Cayman Island at the Westin. Everything I've read indicates how expensive it is to eat there. Any tips or ideas on good eats for less will be appreciated. also I'm assuming the dress down there is very casual. We really can't wait.

Seymore's Jerk Chicken by the airport for lunch everyday!
And go to duty free on your way into the country and pick up any beer, wine, liquor you want to drink while on vacation. It will be much cheaper there. Even the rum.
The Indian place is great and less expensive if you like Indian. Just try places away from 7 mile beach. They will be much cheaper.

My husband and I were at the Westin Cayman in May and LOVED it!! What a great place - and YES very pricey!! And I don't pay much attention to the prices, but in Cayman you can't help but notice. As for saving money... I liked a couple places - one called "Chicken, Chicken" Not far from the Westin. For breakfast we would go to this coffee house called "Cafe del Sol" we would have a bagel and coffee. Save a little money. Sometimes for lunch we would go to the grocery store - which is called Foster's (one close to the Westin), they have a snack bar with Pizza, hot dogs, etc.
Here is a link to a Cayman Message Board that I got A LOT of info from before my trip. Believe me, you will find it most useful! You will have a ball!!

If you can get the Westin to give you a mini fridge you can eat breakfast and lunch from that and save for a nice dinner out. They say they are reserved for people with children and health issues, but if they are sitting in a room not being used, you may get one. We like Chicken Chicken and Ragazzi for inexpensive dinners

I don't know about Coconut Joes being "inexpensive", my husband and I ordered 2 beers and 2 burgers and it was close to $45.00. I guess it depends on what you get. However, it was a fun place to go as it's an outside bar/restaurant.
Another good one is Calypso Chicken. Pretty good food and reasonably priced.

The shopping complex across from the Westing (including "Eats" is still closed post-Ivan.
Dress down is casual as with most Caribbean islands....Lone Star is also a good place to eat, all you can eat Fajitas and Margaritas on Mon/Thu nights is a staple !
