casa de campo?

Has anyone stayed here before? I've been reading that it is a very large resort. What area is the best to request a room? Would you stay here again? Did you like the La Romana area? Thanks for any information anyone can give me.

I've stayed at Casa De Campo several years ago and thought it was a treat !It probably is still one of the best ,has a classy feel to it which lots of others in DR don't.The resort is huge and spread out.The beach is small but is pretty.Professional entertainers . If you like golf , you're in for some exciting challenge with their famous course. The whole area of La Romana offers some to see ...rivers , old amphitheater, church ,a pretty Mediteranian style artists village with several restaurants and shops .Yes I'm actually looking to go back to La Romana since it's been quite a few years ( probably a different resort only because we have a toddler now.)

Thanks Me for all your information. My real concern is the fact that it is such a large property. Did you find this a problem? Do you really need a golf cart to get around? Also because of the size and amount of people staying there did you have problems with lines etc. I read somewhere that a guest wanted to rent a golf cart but were told they were booked thru the week.I'm really wondering about the horses and tennis courts availability. Thanks again.

I have been going to Casa de Campo for over 20 years now. Just spent a weekend there first week of August. Yes, it is a big resort. Transportation is not an issue however. They have minivans driving you to the different sites and acitivities as per request and scheduled. You do not need to rent a golf cart as it is not abosolutely necessary.

It is the classiest, best quality food and beverage and entertainment you can get at a resort. They know very well the hospitality business.

True, it is not for everybody. Depends on what you are looking for your vacation. A combination of relaxation, good food and entertainment? it is for you. Wild days and nights? Go someplace else.

If it becomes your choice, please enjoy it as much as I do and give us some feedback.

Regards

Elvira

Elvira thanks for all your information. YOu must absolutly love it if you've been going for 20 yrs. Since you keep going back do you have a favorite room (location)? Can we request a specific location as long as its in our category (luxury rooms etc)? Do you suggest we make reservations for the different activitie----horse back riding, tennis etc.like their web site suggests. We will be going the last week in Oct. Thanks again Elvira.

Hello Mo

October is is great month to be there.

Yes, you may request a room location. I am sure they will try to accomodate your request. My favorite location is near/around the main swimmingpool and Cana Bar area. I highly recommend that once you confirm your stay that you email this wonderful person: [email protected]
and request your restaurants, horsebackriding, tennis and any other reservations.
There is a new chinese restaurant at La Marina which you must try. The Piazzeta in Altos de Chavon and the Tropicana by the main area are great for reserved nights.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. I will be happy to answer them (if I know).

Regards

Elvira, once again thank you for all your help. At the moment I have no further questions but I'm sure in the coming weeks I might have to take you up on your offer to answer some more. Again thank you very much.

Do you have any idea how far Casa de Campo is from the Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus? We're doing an extended family trip with 15 over Christmas, and the Iberostar was so much more reasonably priced. But . . .the guys like to golf. Is there anything to do outside the resorts in that area of the DR?

Nibus are you sure your hotel is cheaper than Casa de Campo? How many rooms are you getting for the 15 of you? Wouldn't it just be cheaper in the long run to get 2 villas in CDC. We would have been saving about $800 if we had another couple going with us and staying in a 2 bedroom villa vs a luxury room.Sorry I can't help you about the distance between the 2 hotels. Where is it located? I'm sure your hotel or a travel book could answer the question.
