Carlisle Bay or Cotton Bay?

Jump to last reply

My husband and I and our 2 and 6 year old daughters are traveling this August for our 10th anniversary. Our main criteria is a resort with a nice room (we do spend time in our room), nice pool and beach facilities (while we like the beach, we are not really ocean people and prefer to swim in the pool), with an excellent kids club. Since it is our anniversary, we would like some down time from the kids but do want to experience the vacation with them as well. Ideally, we would also like a kitchen, but are toying with the idea of not having one. I don't want a sprawling resort - I like to be able to walk easily to the beach, room, pool, Kids Club, etc.

My reservations about Cotton Bay: beach not great, rooms with shutters only = bug bites, some bad reviews on trip advisor, not much feedback here on fodors, kids club (only 2 hours per day for the youngest) looks great for the 6 year old!

Carlisle Bay: no kitchen (except in the Carlisle Suites, twice as expensive), kids club all day for the youngest too, much more expensive than Cotton Bay ($1075 per night all inclusive rate vs $270-344 per night)

I am open to other suggestions but seem to be limited by the 2 year old. Looked at FDR, LOVE the idea of a vacation nanny but decided the resort itself, especially the rooms, looked a little shabby. Most recent resorts we have traveled to include: Four Seasons Costa Rica, Half Moon Jamaica, and The Somerset - T & C.
