Caribbean or Hawaii in August?
We are deciding between a one-week jaunt to the Carribean or Hawaii in August from the East Coast, and want to go where the weather is best, i.e., comfortable temps, low hurricane risk, low rainfall. Any suggestions about which would be best?

Will be going to St. Thomas in late March. We had considered Hawaii, we've been there twice and absolutely love it, but the travel time is just so long(6 hours to the west coast and then you are only half way there). We'll go again when we can spend at least 2 weeks.

IF you have the money-go HAWAII!!! Have been there 5 times and love it. We took
a cruise that goes around the islands for 7 nights! GREAT- no packing and un-packing or flying to different islands.
BEST way to see all the islands.
We also stay in Honolulu for a week on beach hotel - best is Outrigger Waikiki On the Beach!! They have 30% discounts.
Make sure it is the one across from the International Market Place, because there are a lot of Outrigger Hotels. They also have a good special at another great hotel we stayed at- Sheraton Waikiki on the beach. Oceanfront room with outside balcony, facing diamondhead, airport transfers, and $ 25.00 each day for food credit, and 5th night free!!

Kathy, if you've been to Hawaii and loved it (which I have also), I would NOT go to St. Thomas -- you'll be VERY disappointed! You would be better off going to either Grand Cayman, Bermuda, St. Barts or even Cancun. These places, of course, are not Hawaii, but they are all so much more preferable to St. Thomas!!
