Car rental Statia for day trip

We're spending 10 days in St Maarten in late January, (we've been there a number of times) and want to fly over to Statia for a day to get a feel for it. We have visited Anguilla and Saba for a couple days on other trips to SXM. Thinking of renting a car for the day. Figure we'll catch the 8am flight and go back on the 6pm flight. Googling Statia, there isn't much info out there. Anyone with additional info on the island and what to do? Been on the website. Might snorkel a little bit, if it is off a beach. Wander around town, have lunch. Not really interested in spending the day hiking the
Quill. Any other suggestions. Figure we'd go on a Wed or Thurs since the museum is closed on Mondays and Tuedays. Or...should we hire a cab for the day or a guide???
