Has anyone taken the car ferry from St. Kitts to Nevis? I know we have to get permission from our rental car company. Is it safe, scarry, etc? I'm thinking it would save us on a tour for a day trip or two. Thanks!

It's a great way to get from St. Kitts to Nevis, IMO. Not scary at all. The crossing is only about 20 minutes or so. Just check with your car rental company beforehand, but I think most allow it.
No it's not scary. The ferry is an "old" Naval Landing Craft about 135' long and designed to hold about 15 cars. you can see photos and schedules at: www.seabridgekn.com
The only drawbacks are: 1) The ferry does not always leave "on-time", 2) If there are more cars then available space on the ferry you'll have to wait for the next trip (which is usually 2 hours later) and 3) The ferry doesn't run if the surf conditions deteriorate - while this is a relatively rare occurance it does happen from time to time.
Check with your rental company, some have offices on both islands and will allow you to leave your car on St Kitts and pick one up on Nevis.
Much easier.
Thanks so much!
