Cancun with kids - Fiesta Americana Coral Beach, Westin Regina, Camino Real, Crown Paradise Club????

Has anyone stayed at the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach, Camino Real, Westin Regina or Crown Paradise Club with kids? We are planning to go New Year's week with two children ages 6 and 9 and are trying to decide which hotel would be best. All of the hotels say they have kids acitivites during that week. Several people have posted notes that the Coral Beach is "stuffy". Would our kids feel welcome there? Do families tend to go to these hotels during New Year's week? We are considering Camino Real and Coral Beach because the water at that end of the hotel strip is more calm -- can anyone comment on the roughness of the sea at any of these hotels?

Any comments would be appreciated. We're having a tough time deciding.

stayed at Fiesta Amer.Coral Beach. Saw some kids, but it is known as an incentive trip destination, as was mine. Expect the crowds to be the same.
However, it is in a great spot;near lots of activities, shops, rest. stores, etc.Plus the pool is huge and goes the whole length of the hotel.
I would not stay at the Camino Real. That is on a point and the beach got hit hard by the pst hurricanes.
You may want to check out the Presidente. Also in s good spot and has a large beach. Never stayed there though...
Good luck!!!

Go to your travel agent and request an Apple Vacation guide. Also look Cancun up on-line there are many sites. Lots of the hotels there have childrens programs. I believe that all of the ones that do are in service at this time of the year. They are established prorgams which give mom and dad a few hours to strike out on there own and not have to keep a watchful eye on the kids. Some of the hotels you will find on line will give you sample schedule of the type of activities they provide to keep the kids both busy and interested. Also most of the hotels provide babysitting for an added fee of course. Several months ago I did a search for a co-worker and I believe that I came up with at least 10 hotels in all price ranges with "Kids Programs."

Just returned from Sun Palace hotel which is next to Westin Regina and on same part of island as Crown Paradise. Some days my kids (ages 9 and 15) were able to swim in the ocean no problem (after all kids love some waves) but other days the surf was high enough that they could only go out to their knees. In cancun people tend to hang around the pools more than the ocean. So we never really found that to be a problem. but you are correct Westin Regina and Crown Paradise have beautifull gorgeous beaches but most days you will have to supervise your children closely in the ocean. Your kids will be welcomed with open arms at these hotels this time of year. Email me if you need more info !!

We just went to Cancun on Spring Break with our two kids (ages 12 & 8) and stayed at the Omni Cancun. Even though our kids don't like group activities, there was a daily schedule for children and activities for families. They were well attended and appeared to be well supervised. Overall, the hotel was extremely kid-friendly. Rooms were large and facilities were excellent. The beach is also excellent here, which it isn't farther north on the strip. We stayed at the Camino Real four years ago without the kids and remember seeing numerous childrens' events going on. We really enjoyed our visit, especially trips to Chichen Itze and Tulum. Also, don't miss Perico's Restaurant. Yes, it's a tourist place but it's a grand party that adults and children will enjoy.

I think the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach is an excellent choice for people with kids. The water is very calm there and the rooms are larger than average. I do not think it is a stuffy place at all, and I do not even know what an "incentive destination" is. At any rate, it is one of the nicest places in Cancun in my book along with the Ritz-Carlton. Camino Real is nice too. We would walk next door and have a great brunch there and it was half the price of the FACB. And by all means take your kids to Xcaret to swim with the dolphins. Also, the best deals we have ever had going to Cancun (or any place else in Mexico) have been booking directly through Continental Airlines Grand Destinations. Of course we live in one of Continental's hub cities, so that probably helps. Have a great time!
