My fiance and I are going on our honeymoon this coming August. We have changed our minds many, many times but think that Grenada is the place for us. Any suggestions or comments on either the Calabash Hotel or The Secret Harbour Resort would be great. We want a VERY romantic spot either on or close to a great beach! Thanks alot for the info.

Of the two you want the Calabash. It's really nice and on a beach. Secret Harbor is nice, but it's primary reason for being is to serve the Moorings Charter sailboat base. It's very lovely, but not so much so as the Calabash. Depending on how romantic you are, you may want Le Segase (wrong spelling, sorry, but you'll find it in the books). It's remote -- you'll want a car, but it's on a great beach and it's really cool. email me directly if it interests you and I'll tell you more.
I have stayed at Secret Harbour. While Secret Harbour may be the Moorings' house hotel, it is also regarded one of the nicest properties in Grenada, and you shouldn't let the Moorings affiliation deter you. Some rooms have large private decks hanging virtually over the water, smothered in bougainvillea, and overlooking gorgeous Mt. Hartmann's Bay. The rooms have 4-poster beds, tile floors, brick arches, sitting areas, and HUGE bathrooms, including bidets and open tile showers. The pool, though not overly large, is spectacular, also overlooking the bay. It is not, however, on the beach, but does offer access to day sails and other water related activities. The Calabash, I believe, is on Prickly Bay (L'ance Aux Epines), right on the beach. Last time I was at Prickly Bay, however, I didn't find the beach particularly nice for swimming (though OK for walking), so if you wanted to swim, you'd probably need to go to Grand Anse or Morne Rouge anyway.
