BVI TO USVI

I will be in Virgin Gorda for a week in February and want to cntinue on to St Croix. I do not want to fly thru Puerto Rico, but I am willing to go thru St Thomas. I would appreciate advice on air connections or ferry services.

ferry service from Virgin Gorda to St. Thomas is direct on Thursday and Sunday 3 pm otherwise you will travel to Tortola and catch one of the regular ferries to St. Thomas from there. You can then catch the fast ferry to St. Croix (last one is 5:30). Air Sunshine also has flights between St. Croix and Virgin Gorda but check with them the route to see what other islands where it will stop on the route. www,airsunshine.com

You could also take the seaplane (Seaborne Airlines) from the Charlotte Amalie harbour (conveniently located next to the Tortola Ferry Wharf) to Christensted.

Hello. I have a related questions which it seems the posters here can answer. What is the recommended way of travel to Tortolla from San Juan? It looks to be a short distance - are there ferries between the two? Thanks!

No, the distance is longer than it looks on the map and there are no ferries. You could either check into the availability of a flight from SJ to Tortola (Beef Island) or fly 1/2 hour to St Thomas and take the ferry from there. You wouldn't be able to do it comfortably in one day but maybe you should check usvi-on-line.com or carribean-on-line.com for schedules and options.

those ferrying between St. Thomas and Tortola are often those who can get a cheaper direct flight into STT. No problem with connecting in SJU and going into STT then ferrying but why when you can fly directly to Tortola. It would make for a long day but it can be done if your plane arrives early enough to connect with the ferry.
