Hi, we are planning atrip to varadero in aprox 4 weeks, we noticed there is not much info available on cuba. could anyone tell
us about this hotel or even the surrounding area,people, food, and safety.

Hi, Shelley...I didn't stay at this hotel but i did just get back from 3 weeks in Cuba. I had 3 different guidebooks, and for travelling the Fodor's is compact enough and really pretty good. Bet you're hotel might be in there. Have fun..ciao!

We are going to Brisas at the end of March for two weeks - it will be our third time there. We loved it - the staff is wonderful - we spent the day with one of the staff and his family and it was a very memorable experience. His name is Raul - he works in security at the hotel. The first time in Cuba we went on a tour of Havana but the last time we went we rented a car and went to Havana - we had a great time. There was always someone to watch the car for us when we parked - I would highly recommend renting a car - you can go where you want and spend as much time seeing what you want to see and not be dependent on a tour schedule. We can hardly wait to get back there. I hope you have as wonderful a time as we had. Make sure you go to the park in Varadero and have a meal - another fantastic time. Please write when you get back and let me know how you enjoyed it.

My wife and I stayed at BDC last april.Great value if you get a good price,what with the two free tours and 24 hr room service and fridge in your room.I would definetly go for the new section.Beach great, staff great,grounds amazing,wonderfull rooms but....food not great.We've had great food in Cuba,Breezes Jibacoa,but not here.I still gained 5lbs!and never went hungry,but never really looked forward to meals like we have at other resorts.Still for one week it wasn,t a real problem but I wouldn,t want to do it for 2 weeks.For lots of info try www.caribbeanopinion.com look under unlisted islands.I have a few pics I can email you if you like,just email me.Happy New Year everybody!....steve
