Did you like the Divi Flamingo? What type of room did you have and were you happy with your choice?
Hi Delegator, I thought the Divi Flamingo was very nice, certainly not posh, but perfect for what we needed. We had room 103, which ended up having a bad a/c unit, so they moved us to room 105. Both had great ocean views and a nice porch to watch the sunset, comfy beds, and an in-room safe. Both rooms were very clean and nicely appointed. The grounds and crew are great, and the on-site restaurant(Chibi Chibi) was super! I would definitely stay there again. Let me know if you have other questions.
Awesome pictures! They look like postcards. You are really talented!
I've just started looking into an island hop (Aruba/Bonaire/Curacao), and your pics have definitely made me want to include Bonaire.
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful pictures with us. They were exquisite! We leave for Curacao in two week and your pictures have added to the excitement. I only hope that Curacao is as lovely as your photos of Bonaire. Thanks again for sharing. I will visit your site again when I son't have to rush so that I may look at your other pictures. I, like you, am ever so grateful every time I get to visit a new, beautiful destination.
Happy journey!

Happy journey!
Hi there. We visited Bonaire years ago and it is still one of my favorite places. We have a Divi timeshare and exchanged it for the Flamingo. The accommodations then were really awful. Do they still have the white building that looks like a military barracks? The bathroom was so small two people could not fit in it together. I would love to go back but haven't found any reliable info re upgrades of the units. Did you stay in a timeshare unit or see them while you were there?
Beautiful pictures! I checked out some from other places you've been and they are all fabulous! I am going snorkeling on Grand Cayman in a few weeks myself. If you don't mind, can you tell me what type of camera you used for the underwater photos? thanks much.
Thanks to everyone for the compliments on my photography! I am so pleased to hear that my photos were enjoyed.
fluffnfold: You will love Bonaire, let me know what you think of the other islands...I hope to visit them one day as well.
Tiff: Thanks so much for the positive feedback! Drop me an email when you get to check out the site in more depth..let me know what you think. Happy travels to you!
nankar: I don't recall a white building, the premises for really nice when we were there...we did have a problem with the a/c in our first room, but they promptly moved us. No timeshare unit...never saw one. But the rooms were very nice and clean.
chelimn: Thanks! Cayaman is another wonderful destination...make sure to snorkel at cemetery reef. The underwater photos from Bonaire were taken with a canon s400 in a dedeicated underwater housing(available from canon)...I am in love with this camera! I was very pleased with the results. The Cayman underwater were taken with a Minolta Maxxum 7000 in an ewa marine bag. I think the digital canon was much better, and easier to use underwater. Hope that helps you out!
Thanks again everyone!
Hi, I just noticed this post still directs to our old website address. If you are looking for our travel journal this is the new url www.nbhtravel.com Thanks everyone.
velodurt, I enjoyed skimming through your great trip report on Bonaire, and your stunning photos! My husband is a biologist and we want to take a one-week romantic getaway to an island paradise in the Caribbean.
We are thinking about Bonaire. I understand it is arid, but National Geographic traveller rates it very well on their web-site, and your photos and report are certainly enticing!
I would say our favorite islands up until now are Dominica and St. Lucia in the Caribbean.
We enjoy snorkeling but I am a timid snorkeling, earily frightened out of the water. What about that eel in your photo?! Ahhhh! Were you diving? Can I snorkel without running into an eel?
What is that cool lizard-creature in your photo? My husband is an avid herpetologist.
Do you think Bonaire would be a good natural paradise for a romantic getaway and communing with unspoiled nature?
Thanks! Looking forward to reading your whole report tomorrow, word for word. Sent a link to my husband as well.
We are quite late planning this trip, and are going this February 2006 if we can get the reservations. We are considering Bonaire, Bahamian Out Islands, British Virgin Islands (NOT Tortola), maybe St. John but we were there for 1 day years ago for our honeymoon. Also considering Turks/Caicos.
By the way do you know what in the world do they mean by the "Bahamian Out Islands"? Are there "Out" islands and "In" islands?
Thank you!
Hi melissa5, Thanks for the kind words about our website. I would say that Bonaire would be an excellent choice for a trip...we sure enjoyed it! But that is mainly thanks to the underwater world, if snorkeling freaks you out, it might not be as appealing of an island. We were snorkeling when we saw the eel, but you probably wouldn't have noticed him if you weren't looking closely...like we tend to do for our photography. The lizard is an iguana, as I am sure your husband has already told you
They are quite comical, and really interesting animals! Anyway, any of the islands on your list would be a good choice. I especially liked St John and the Turks and Caicos...we have also been to the Out Islands...which just means they are the furthest out in the Bahama chain. We went to Staniel Cay in the Exumas...check out our web journal on any of those destinations for more info. My next trip is to St Lucia...what did you think of that island? It looks amazing and I am very excited. Hope that answers your questions..if you have more feel free to email me...link is on my website. Happy Travels, weisey
velodurt,
Just wanted to respond to your question regarding St. Lucia. We went last month and thought the Island was just wonderful. Lush, mountainous, lots of flora and waterfalls. Unforntuatly, it rained for the most part of our trip, so the snorkeling was not as good as many people have described. Of all the Islands, we've been to, have to say St. Lucia was the most scenic overall. We liked St. Lucia better than Hawaii and St. John.

I also enjoyed your pictures. We are going on an Alaska cruise May, 2006. Also have T & C on our 'to go' list.
Hey KVR, this is too weird...I was surfing a few weekes ago and came across your photo gallery! I really enjoyed looking at your pictures...I am even more excited to go to St Lucia now! I especially liked the Diamond waterfall and the boa...cool! Thanks so much for the info and link! Enjoy your Alaska cruise...you will love it! And T&C is definitely a must do! Happy holidays, weisey
