Bonaire in February-Getting there from NYC and where to stay

from what i can see online, the best way to get to bonaire from NYC-JFK airport is to fly Delta to Atlanta and then fly to bonaire. the only day there's a non-stop flight from atlanta to bonaire is saturday. any other suggestions? we will be going in february. also, any recommendations about places to stay, places to eat, places to snorkel, places to fish.
