Best Place To Stay on Jost Van Dyke?

Hey there,

We are gals in our early 30's planning a trip to Jost Van Dyke in December or January. From what we have read, it sounds like the Sandcastle would be our first choice for accommodations. But we cannot get in touch with anybody there and we've been trying for days. We did however speak with a very nice lady at the Sea Crest Inn who does have availability and good rates. But it sounds like the Sandcastle is much nicer and in a better location for us. Where would you say is the next best place to stay other than Sandcastle? We are not interested in the White Bay Villas and the Pink House is too big and expensive. We also don't want bare-bones or camping. And the Sandy Grounds sounds too remote. Is there a place that we're missing? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

White Bay & Sand Castle are the only 2 I've ever heard about but I know nothing about either.

We are spending 2 nights in a studio at the Perfect Pineapple. They have a website, and are prompt about replying. It is a few minute walk down to White Bay.
We will be there in early Jan.,. I simply cannot wait...
Have fun

Have you tried e-mailing Sandcastle. My son stayed there and found them to be very responsive and a delightful place to stay. Could they be closed this month? Some places close for part of the hurricane season.

perfect pineapple is a good place to stay. just up the hill from sandcastle...2-3 min walk to the beautiful beach !! i heard that the phone lines are down to jost...just keep trying PP...although , not to deflate your hopes but jost is small and people book well in advance so you might find all booked.

The other posters are right, I do not think you stand a chance of staying at Sandcastle.
Two months ago, I tried to book for early Jan, and they were completely booked, I even told them our dates were flexible (anytime during Jan., and weekdays are okay), but nothing!
We looked into Seacrest Inn also, but it is in Great Harbor and we really wanted to be at White Bay.

Well we finally booked a room at The Perfect Pineapple. We then recived an email from The Sandcastle that they had been out of communication and their phones were down for 11 days+. They did have availability in December. But since we had already booked the Pineapple, we decided to just stick with it. We'll be there in a little over a week - so excited!

Oh and can anybody tell me where to get provisions? I think we are staying on St. John for the first 2 nights. Should we buy things there or on Tortola? And what type of provisions might we need other than food?

Thanks again for all of your help!

Oh, have a wonderful time, please let me know how Perfect Pineapple was. I am sooo excited, it is a month away!
How you are getting from STJ to JVD may decide how/where to get your provisions.
If you take the ferry, you will stop in Tortola, but only long enough for some passengers to depart and others to hop on, so you will not be able to shop there.
There are a couple of grocery stores in Cruz Bay, St John where you can get everything you need.
Not sure what you will need other than some food, we plan to bring our snorkel gear and a few peices of clothing and just "wing it", but we are probably not the average travelers!
