Help me... I'm so confused, we 3 families want to take another week-long trip to the Caribbean this summer. We took a cruise last year and had a fabulous time. We've traveled many times when kids were young.
Three couples traveling with "kids" ages 16, 18, 22 & 27.
Most importantly: Guys want superb golf. Girls want beautiful beaches. We'd love to rent a 5 bedroom villa/house on or REALLY close to the beautiful beach @ $10,000 max per week, but hope to spend less.
Next important: We all want other activities such as chartering a catamaran, water sports, spa, hiking, sight-seeing, snorkeling, etc. A casino would be a bonus.
I know this is a tall order but Fodorites always come through!
I've looked at Casa de Campo in DR, but read that even though golf is fabulous, the beach is small & not that great. Also checked out Sandy Lane in Barbados but it appears to be out of our price range. There are so many beautiful beaches in Caribbean but most golf courses are marginal at best. Finding both would be awesome.

Mu husband is a golfer and we've been to all those places with the exception of the DR. I would suggest the DR, especially check out Tortuga Bay which has beautiful villas right on the beach -- the DR has incredible beaches and golf and is more affordable than someplace like Barbados which can be very expensive and other than Sandy Lane, really does not have a golf resort on the beach. You might also take a look at Turks & Caicos -- a spectacular beach and lots of condo resorts right on the beach as well as villas and good golf. Tierra Del Sol golf course in Aruba is also very good -- the accomodations at TDS are not right on the beach but you could stay at any beachfront resort and it's an easy trip to golf.

Barbados is wonderful, with everything imaginable. Sandy Lane is an outrageously expensive hotel. There are many villas on the beach. A great hotel option is Coral Reef Club, the class act on the island--family owned for nearly 60 years, and the care shows. All low-rise plantation style buildings and cottages on gorgeous grounds. Beach is at the edge of an underwater park/wade in snorkeling. See www.coralreefbarbados.com You can Google a number of villa websites.
Fairmont Royal Pavilion in Barbados is also another great Accommodation option. I believe they even have a golf package with Royal Westmorland for guests to enjoy. Plus it is in Holetown close to amenities and beaches with water activities.
