Bermuda Trip

I am celebrating my 40th with 15 girlfriends for 3 nights. We are a fun loving group and looking for recommendations on: places to eat, happy hour/night life places, good shopping and things to do around the island. We are staying at the Fairmont Southhampton. We also would like a nice restaurant for one evening. We would love something with outdoor seating, great ambiance and live entertainment. We are considering Waterlot for that dinner.

There are lots of threads here, even recently, addressing the restaurant/things to do questions, so make sure you have a search for those.
As far as happy hours - (and it's been two summers since I've been there) the places to be on Friday night were the Fairmont Princess, the Lemon Tree and Beau Rivage (BR ran their own free ferry from the dock in Hamilton across the harbor for Friday happy hour.) There's a cool roof-top wine bar in an alley off Front St upstairs from a little Italian place - the name is escaping me but I'll post again when I remember it. The bar at Port O Call had a nice after-work vibe too, great cocktails. The restaurant behind BUEI has nice waterfront outdoor seating. I love the patio at Mad Hatters. You're going to need to make reservations early as possible for a group that size.
You're not going to have any trouble finding a 'nice' restaurant. If you could be more specific, we could help you narrow it down.
Happy Birthday! (I would totally charter a catamaran for a sunset cruise for a fun night.)

Shopping is pretty well limited to Front and Reid Streets in Hamilton, the shops in Dockyard at Clocktower Mall and the craft mall there, and the old town shops in St George's.

thanks so much for your reply. Re restaurants, we were thinking of waterlot for my birthday dinner and ocean club for another night. It does not need to be super fancy -- just good food, fun atmosphere and a nice view. Live music and outside dining would be a huge plus.

Re the BR ferry, would that pick us up at the Fairmont Southhampton down at the docks? Do you know how often the ferry runs?

I have never been to The Waterlot, so can't help you with that one. I liked the Ocean Club. Live music wasn't ever huge there. Henry VIII pub usually had live music, that's the one place I can think of. Blu has nice harbor views. Mad Hatters has a fun, great patio, great food, but it's a town location.

The BR ferry picks up at the public dock by the public ferry terminal in Hamilton, a few blocks from the Fairmont Princess. If you are staying at the Fairmont Southampton, you could get the Fairmont Ferry from the Southampton property to the Hamilton property, walk to the public docks, and catch the BR ferry across the harbor. I don't think the Fairmont ferry runs too late in the evenings, so you might need to plan on getting a cab back to the Southampton. Again, I haven't been there in two years, so you might want to check the hotel's websites for ferry hrs.

A much more laid-back, casual atmosphere, with really good food, great pizza, and a garden with live music is the Tribe Road Kitchen on the edge of Hamilton. If you follow them on Facebook, they post the menu, pizza and happy hour/music info every day. Nice place to chill with a drink.

Waterlot is a very nice place to dine. I have been on a few occasions. It is expensive, but so are most places. Food is top notch, and it is waterfront.

I would definitely eat there for a celebratory dinner. If you want to have a little fun after, you can easily go over to King Henry the V111ths. When we were there, they had a piano player entertainer. He sang like billy joel and got the crowd into different fun songs. We had a few drinks and a few laughs and would be good for your group. You can walk there, but I would taxi home as it is up hill going back up to the hotel.
