We have a chance to rent a cottage in Somerset Bridge or one right outside Hamilton. Does anyone have any opinion about whether one location is better than the other in regards to getting around the island to see different beaches, or getting to restaurants, shops, etc? Will we be spending too much time on buses or too much money for taxis from the Somerset Bridge location? Please advise.

If it was my choice I would opt for the Somerset Bridge location. I love this area of Bermuda. It really depends on what you plan to do in . Strange as it sounds we rarely visited Hamilton. If you plan to get around by buses vs. scooters I would go with the Hamilton cottage.

I'm having trouble logging onto the Bermuda shorts forum. I registered, but I can't seem to reply or start a new topic. I know I am doing something wrong, but I haven't figured it out yet. I'm having fun reading the comments, but I'm very frustrated about not being able to ask questions.

We have two teenagers who will be accompanying us in July. Should we let them drive scooters, or is it too dangerous. Only one has a driver's license. Is that required?

I can answer your guestion about skooters! Bermuda now has more cars then ever, due to the influx of insurance companies, even though each family is only allowed one car. Lots more drivers all over the island. I have been renting a moped for years AND
I have seen quite a few accidents. IMHO
accidents occur since most Americans are use to driving on the right, this affects how they turn, pass etc. Also lots of new riders tend to hit the coral curbs. My husband was turning right, and a young honeymooner passed him on the right. I watched the whole scene in slow motion, as their heads hit the black top, without a helmut it would have had a different outcome.
Anyhow, its really personal call if you and your family want to rent a scooter.
I believe the age limit is 16, no drivers liscense necessary.

It also depends on your comfort level
on the moped. Yes, we still rent them. No I never use it at night. They are a good way to see the island, but proceed with caution.
