Has anyone been to Bermuda in late March/early April? We realize it will not be hot (seems like 70 degrees is about average) but that is not of concern because we aren't really beach people. As long as the weather is nice enough for some hiking, touring, maybe a swim in a heated pool....and restaurants and sites will be open for business, we'd be happy. Please advise if you have experience with traveling there this time of year. Any help is much appreciated.

I like that time of year in Bermuda. Cool enough to spend plenty of time outside without dealing with summer's humidity. It will be too early in the tourist season for many of the watersport/tour operators to be up and running, but you'll have no problem with restaurants and other activities. You might even beat the early cruise ships and basically have the place to yourselves. The beaches will be fine for hiking and exploring, too - and deserted - locals don't go near them until May! Bonus if you can get in on the hotel's off-season rates. Go for it. (Don't expect heated pools - although the Fairmont Southampton has an indoor one and a pair of hot tubs outside with ocean views - and you could just book a spa visit to use them if you're not staying there.)
We were there last week (March 5 - 10). Weather would have been pleasant and springlike if it had not been for extremely high winds most of the time that came from the snowstorm that hit N.E. U.S. Local folks were saying it was the worst week of the winter so far, but was OK for us anytime out of the wind, coming as we do from the Frozen North. With winds dying down you will likely find it nice now for sightseeing, walking, golf etc but still cold for outdoor pool or beach swimming.
Big upside is that we were often the only tourists around in many places and it gave us a chance to better understand and experience the local culture (very friendly and welcoming). This was our first visit and we can imagine how different it is with a cruise ship or two in town. If we go back, and I hope we do, we will look for something later in the spring but before the cruise and in season groups arrive.
