We're planning our first trip to Bermuda toward the end of February, and because of the cooler weather, are planning mostly cycling and tennis. Do the cycle shops rent kid bikes (with and without training wheels) and/or trailer bikes (the upright tandem-looking kind for one child, not the sit down, enclosed trailer kind)? Are the cycle shops close to the railway trail so we could take a bus to the shop, and get to the trail fairly easily? It sounds like it's not a good idea to have young children riding on the roads since they're narrow and without shoulders. (the roads, not the kids
)
Lastly, where is the best place for tennis that is open to the public and somewhat family friendly?
Thanks for any help.
(2nd post of this message, since I thought I had put Bermuda in the title initially, but hadn't)

I believe that Oleander Cycles rent bicycles as well as scooters but I can't find any reference to it on their website www.oleandercycles.bm. Try giving them a call and ask them directly. You should be able to get to the railway trail fairly easily from any of their locations apart from maybe Hamilton. The island is only a mile wide at its widest point and the railway trail runs most of the length of the island so you could never really be that far away. You are right to be cautious of riding on the roads with a child.
There are lots of tennis courts available to the public. If you post back with where you are staying I could give you a few suggestions which would be nearby.
Thanks.
We're staying at the Grape Bay Beach Hotel. I'll give Oleander Cycles a call regarding what type of rentals they have for children.
The following courts are open to the public and I can't imagine anywhere being family unfriendly:
Elbow Beach Hotel, Paget $12/hr for non-guests
Government Tennis Stadium at Bernard Park, Pembroke $8/hr
Fairmont Southampton, Southampton $18/hr for non-guests
