Beaches or Seven Stars Turks and Caicos with toddler?
Hi. I have no experience either traveling in the Caribbean or traveling with a toddler (who will just have turned 3) generally. I'm wondering which is better for us, Seven Stars resort or Beaches on Turks and Caicos. We want kids activiites, but are a bit turned off by all inclusives and very large resorts, especially after reading mixed reviews of Beaches food/waits, etc and long walks to the beach from room....

I personally would choose Seven Stars over Beaches for the following reasons:
Beaches is better when a little bit older. Other than Sesame Street characters, the water park you need to be a little older to enjoy. Turning 3 doesn't give much room for activities (although they do have them)
Your turned off by large resorts AIs. Beaches is huge! Unless you stay at Italian Village (most expensive area) you'll be walking to that section to hang out as it's nicest, that means lots of walking.
Food waits aren't too bad at Beaches, but you are in lines and mostly buffets.
Beaches is usually sold out, so it can be a little crowded. It has the most people on the smallest stretch of beach. Here's a funny thing about Beaches, I'm even guilty of: there's so much to do that you find you really don't go to the beach that much!
As far as AIs go, Beaches is extremely nice. I think it's one of the best in Caribbean and best for families with kids.
But I do think Seven Stars is a nicer property, and seems to fit more what you're looking for. My daughter was just at the kids camp (she's 10) and loved it. there will probably be leftover beach toys for your toddler, and quite frankly, while my daughter absolutely loves Beaches, she loves SS and Somerset and others too, so I think kids activities are relative. There will be other toddlers wherever you decide, so i think your toddler will be fine.

Oh goodness, I have a two year old myself so I understand your concerns there! For the flight make sure to bring snacks (for the distraction and the ear popping), toys and some fun interactive games (iPod perhaps?) Also, they let you rent movies on most flights with your debit or credit card which can buy you several hours of quiet time from your toddler! Get him/her involved with a disposable camera and let them chose some pictures to take from the air that they can print out later! I found a site online that had some cute ideas...http://engagingtoddleractivities.wor...el-activities/ As far as your vacation destination although many like Beaches it does have that touristy feel and its expensive. I would look at West Bay, that is my favorite and some of the rooms are more like villas so you have a kitchen.

Check out The Somerset resort www.thesomerset.com Beautiful resort, really nice condos, 2 pools-one is zero entry and kids love it. I think they have a kids club, 2 restaurants and many nearby. Beaches is a zoo. Seven Stars is nice but the buildings are huge , check out The Somerset.

thanks for your responses. at Beaches, we were looking at the French village for cost. How far is that to the beach in terms of how long it takes to walk?
Are all of the restaurants buffet?
