Hello, I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the beach at Laluna. I'm planning a honeymoon and the resort appears to be everything I'm looking for. I'm a beach lover and was wondering what their beach was like compared to some other islands/resorts - Anguilla, Antigua, St. John, etc.) Any thoughts and opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I stayed at LaLuna in July 2006 and the beach was just lovely. Light colored (not quite white, but not far off) sand and beautiful water with some decent snorkeling right off shore. The beach itself isn't very long at all, it's more of a nice covelike setting. LaLuna is the only hotel, with a smattering of private villas, so it doesn't get too crowded, either. The last two hurricanes destroyed most of the vegetation along that beach, but when we were there the recently planted seagrapes were coming along nicely. No natural shade on the beach right now, but in a few years there should be some. LaLuna had around 4 thatched bohios with chaises longues set up on the beach for shade for guests, but there were plenty of other chairs set up, both in the sun and shade, around the pool and in the open-air pavilion.
The food at LaLuna is very good (and a little on the heavy side, not to mention a little expensive). I would strongly urge you to rent a car for a few days on your honeymoon to sample other beaches and restaurants, even if you do choose the meal plan while you're there. Grenada is a beautiful island with a lot to offer!
I meant to add that if you're interested, you can read my full trip report about Grenada here on this forum, or over on Tripadvisor. On the Tripadvisor forum I have uploaded three pictures of LaLuna, one of which shows the beach & resort from the water.
Thanks a lot ej. I really appreciate the info. I'll check out your trip report and pictures too.
