I am headed to Cuba next week and would like to experience baseball in Cuba. It is my understanding that their professional season is over; is this true, and, if so, is there anything else you'd recommend? I'll be staying in Old Havana at Hotel Telegrafo. Thanks.

You're absolutely correct in that the National Series is over for the year (Santiago de Cuba won the Championship) but you still might find some games. Not really sure about this but here are some websites that I use to keep track of Cuban baseball.
SERIE NACIONAL DE BEISBOL
Cuban Baseball Schedule (Very Slow site to load) Here is where you'll find the complete 2005/06 schedule of games and locations.

Sitio Oficial del Organismo Central I.N.D.E.R. (Cuban Sports Federation) Once the baseball season starts, info will be on this website.

Federación Cubana de Béisbol Aficionado

Cuban Events click on Deportivos (sports) and you're looking for beisbol events. The list is always changing so you have to keep looking each month.

Hope this helps you out.
