Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe Resort, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Hi, I am going to the Barcelo Bavaro Deluxe all-inclusive resort in mid October and I want to know the following: How is the food, How is the pool, How are the rooms, How is the beach, and how friendly are the employees, and are there any water sports on the beach if so how are they? Any input on it will be helpful, Thank You.

We found the pools great, the food was typical all-inclusive the specialty restaurants were quite good. We had a 2 bedroom suite in the "family area" it was very clean, well maintained.

There were water sports available, we did not partake.

We found the employees, especially at the pool bars and casino bar very friendly and accomodating.

Don't know where you are from, but if you are used to waiting and being served in order, doesn't really work that way. You have to speak up politely. After a few trips to the bar the bar tenders tend to know what you are drinking and will serve you quickly.

There are alot of reviews on tripadvisor on this hotel.

Please tell me which category room you had. Was it family room deluxe or family jr. suite? We are trying to find a category with two bedrooms divided by a door and beds in each room. The hotel keeps giving us different answers. Thank you.

My sister just got back from there and they stayed in the Family Premium Deluxe room and here are her comments since we are also considering this resort. Recommend the following restaurants in this order:
Japanese
Italian
Mexican
Sports Bar
Steakhouse
Would not recommend the Seafood - the buffet had good food a lot to choose from.

We did not go to the French or Spanish but heard the French was very good. All and all we would say the food was above average! There was bottled water everywhere and did not drink the water - the fruit was wonderful. We did hear the other Barcelo on the island was not very nice at all.

The family room was very nice - it was by a kids pool and a short walk from the Barcy Kids Camp - which we did not use and the Barcy WaterPark which was $5 a day/per person - we used it one day and the kids had fun. They also went to the Teen Club a few nights after dinner and met some nice kids.

We were a short walk from the restaurants, beach, larger pools - the kids enjoyed the larger pools and the beach was wonderful (a little stuff on it but nothing major). The girls played a ton of Beach Volleyball which they loved. We could always find beach chairs at the pool and beach!

The resort is very European - a ton of Spanish, French, German, Russian speaking tourists which was fun for the kids - a ton of Canadians. Most of the staff spoke English but not always that well so it was an adventure and we enjoyed the international flavor.

We did three excursions which were all very good - Dolphin Swim, Snorkeling, Sting Ray, Shark Swim and the Spa Boat (Dr. Spa) - the girls and I did this and we had a lot of fun. Always felt very safe and the people were very friendly - usually speaking 5 different languages to be able to accommodate all of the guests.

We took a bunch of ones and tipped everyone which gave us great service. We had also heard that they have a hard time getting coloring books and crayons so took a bunch of those which the maids really appreciated. We met families that had also taken clothes for the maids. We did not see a lot of poverty on the trip - must have taken us through areas that were not poverished but we knew it was there.

There was a Catholic Church on the grounds which was nice for Easter Sunday.
