Hello,
I am going to Barbados (first time!) next week, and I was wondering about bringing a gift for our hosts who live there. We are renting a place from them, and they have been very helpful. I live in Georgia....I was thinking that there may be American things that they are missing - not sure what to get. thanks!
Barbados - gift for host?

When we bring host/ess gifts, we like to bring things that are local to us. For us in Massachusetts, that might be something from Yankee Candle, or maybe something made with maple syrup, or from a local chocolate company, or maybe a picture book featuring New England. When we lived in Kentucky we chose to bring some interesting bourbons for gifts. Are your hosts American themselves?
I don't know! sorry, no idea....
That is a great idea - thank you so much...I wish I was from
kentucky & could bring bourbon!
Since Barbados has some truly distinctive restaurants why don't take your hosts to dinner? If you are not concerned with money issues The Cliff is tremendous and has a price fix menu (about 75 - 100 dollars per person US) others that are equally great but not as expensive are Opa! and Aqua. In all cases ask for sea side seating when you reserve. Barbados is a British Island so if you choose a gift make it something you can only get locally as they have pretty much the same stuff we do.
Have a great time this is a great Island don't forget to visit Crane Beach!
Opa is no longer. The same owners have redesigned it and it is now a steakhouse called Black Pearl (quite expensive). Sadly, Aqua closed recently due to the economic downturn on the island. I've also been told that Olives is now closed. I'm sure others will follow. Sad to see this happening.
