I'm planning a trip to SW Puerto Rico this November and would like to spend several days in the area. Has anyone stayed at these hotels recently? Has the construction at Bahia Salinas been completed? Anyone have positive/negative experiences to share about either hotel? Thanks!

Hi!
I have stayed at both places. . . I would go for Mary Lee's.
I don't know about construction at Bahia salinas. It's an amazing spot, a very cool place near the salt flats and the spectacular lighthouse on a cliff. I liked the mineral hot tub. But the hotel itself isn't particularly great, in my opinion. I didn't like the rooms much at all and food was problematic. I had a funny feeling about the management, which wasn't too helpful.
Mary Lee's is a very special place, a labor of love that Mary Lee herself has created on a wonderful stretch of coastline. It's got a great vibe. It's right on the water, although it's not a nice sandy beach.
Have you thought about staying in Boqueron? The cabanas there are a bit spartan but they are RIGHT on perhaps the most gorgeous beach in PR. For $65 a night, you can't beat it. I've been going since I was five years old!www.cpnpr.gobierno.pr/boqueron_bal.asp

PS--even if you don't stay at bahia salinas make sure to go to the salt flats and the lighthouse. It is spectacular
